A friend of mine, Erikka, posted a photo of a field in northern Minnesota a couple of months back. There was a great design, beautiful color and a nice sense of place and simplicity. I don't often do this but decided it would be a good afternoon project.. easy, not too large. Somewhere along the way progress was made but for all of that it didn't look right.. revise this, remix color, texture was wrong, looks like crap and so on.

Four or five days later I somehow came up with a painting that felt right that I could respect. Whew.

An afternoon turned into days. Thinking about the process I concluded that there is not a straight line road up ahead pointing to a place called Looks Right. It is part of a painters goal to try to get to that place somehow.. I think the same of  accountants, mechanics, doctors, lawyers, pizza delivery guys  and really any folks that care about what they do..
